Description
COR™ALLOY 4340 FC is an AISI 4340-type nickel-chromium-molybdenum cored welding alloy for repairs and buildup where a medium-hard, impact-resistant deposit is required. Final mechanical properties depend on preheat, interpass temperature, cooling rate and post-weld heat treatment.

- Recommended operating range: 18–30 volts and 150–250 amps
- Shielding gas: CO₂ or argon / CO₂ mixture
- Typical as-welded hardness: 35–47 HRC; flame hardenable to approximately 58 HRC
- Typical uses: dies, crankshafts, gears, axles, forgings, castings and buildup beneath harder deposits
- Manufacturer recommends 600–800°F minimum preheat/interpass temperature when welding AISI 4340
